EFT Tapping Therapy
With Susan Shafer
Licensed Professional Counselor
Advanced Accredited and Certified EFT Practitioner
500 Hour Certified Yoga Instructor
I have advanced training in EFT tapping, 17 years in the therapy field, and 15 years as a yoga instructor.
I bring a mind-body perspective to my work with clients. I integrate these approaches to help you feel more grounded, connected, and at peace within yourself.
Have you talked about difficult experiences in your life again and again and still feel like you’re carrying the burden?
Do you logically understand your patterns but can’t seem to feel different?
Maybe you know exactly where your anxiety comes from and you even understand why you react the way you do.
Some clients are tired of repeating the same patterns, feeling disconnected, or wondering why you’re just not feeling better. Others want to feel more peaceful with what they notice in their body, not just understand it intellectually.
But knowing isn't always enough to change what your body is still holding. Relying on coping mechanisms that helped you get through difficult experiences are no longer helping you live the way you want.
Clients Come To Me When They
Feel anxious
Have a harsh inner critic
Struggle with sleep
Feel disconnected
Have flashbacks
Keep repeating patterns
Feel stuck
Are tired of talking
I work with many clients who have experienced neglect, abuse, narcissistic abuse, and violence. The goal is not to push you through your experiences. We work at a pace your body can manage.
How EFT Tapping Therapy With Me Works
We start by building a comfortable, trusting connection and talking about what you’ve already tried and what has or hasn’t felt helpful. From there, I take the time to explain what we’re doing, how it works, and why we’re using a particular approach. Understanding the tools and techniques you’re learning can help you feel more confident, empowered, and safe using them in our work together and on your own.
Tapping can help calm the nervous system and gently ease the mind and body, creating a greater sense of steadiness and ease. During a session, we slow down and focus on one specific piece of what you’re experiencing. As we talk and tap together, your body has an opportunity to release and move some of the energy it may be holding.
We work slowly and steadily, always honoring your pace. When we explore trauma or difficult past experiences, we want your body to recognize that you are safe in the present moment. We can also gently prepare for upcoming situations or events that you anticipate may feel triggering, using tapping to help your mind and body feel more grounded, prepared, and supported.
Approaches We May Use
-
Uses gentle tapping while we talk through what's happening to reduce emotional intensity and help you feel more settled.
-
Brings attention to physical sensations while using movement and tapping to help you understand what your body is communicating.
-
Connect what you're thinking with what you're feeling so you recognize patterns and create new choices.
-
Helps you approach difficult experiences at a pace your system can manage and supports greater freedom from avoidance and fear.
-
Helps you understand different parts of yourself and what they may need to build self-understanding and compassion.
When Understanding It Hasn't Made It Go Away
Making sense of the past in your head hasn’t been enough to change how it lives in your body. Tapping helps connect the two, creating an opportunity for deeper acceptance and change.
What Changes With EFT Tapping Therapy
After working together, you may notice:
More inner awareness
Less anxiety
More self-compassion
Less internal criticism
Greater self-trust
More emotional control
More peace
You learn what helps your nervous system settle and develop practical skills you can use when you need them.
“The goal isn't to need therapy forever.
I want you to learn how to help yourself.”
About Susan Shafer
Hi, I’m Susan Shafer, Licensed Professional Counselor, Accredited, Certified EFT Practitioner, and Certified 500 Hour Yoga Instructor.
I believe the body can heal itself when we give it the tools it needs.
Tools like movement, nutrition, psychotherapy, tapping, and other somatic practices. I take a holistic approach because your mental and physical wellbeing are connected.
The cornerstone of my career has been hard, intensive therapy work, especially with children. As a crisis counselor, I rode alongside first responders when a child was present during potentially traumatic events. Those experiences showed me how deeply our early experiences can stay with us and how what we’ve lived through can continue to shape how we feel, relate, and move through life as adults.
I use the same practices in my own life that I share with clients, including yoga, meditation, tapping, and exercise. I also enjoy traveling, spending time with family, volunteering, and binge-watching comedies or ‘feel good’ shows.
If you’re ready to take the first step, I’m ready to connect.
Availability: I provide virtual EFT tapping nationwide.
